Diagnosing my power awning problem.
Electric awning switch not working.
In this video i locate and repair an intermittent connection in my dometic 9100 rv power awning 12vdc supply wiring.
Take some time inspecting the awning for any signs of warping weather damage rusting tearing in the awning fabric itself or the motor overheating and working too hard.
You would need to get a 12 volt source and disconnect the wire leads to the motor and test to see if it operates.
If there is no sound then it could be a completely failed motor or even just the switch.
Step 1 locate problem with motorized awning.
The wireless remote worked fine.
Finally it gave up the ghost completely and would not extend or retract.
The next thing to check is the switch connections.
If the awning moves correctly than the problem is in the wiring or switch.
If it does then it s in the wiring or switch.
When your electric awning won t open electric awnings give you the ability to choose between shade and sun whenever you want as long as the awning is working.
Remove awning switch then using a short piece of wire connect the 12v power terminal to the extend and then retract side of the switch.
Occasionally i ve needed to flick the power switch back and forth a few times to get the awning to move.
If the awning extends and retracts properly you need to replace the switch.
If the awning won t extend or retract even though it had been working fine previously you re likely dealing with a power issue or a physical problem with the arms that move the awning.
